Brandon Griffin, the creative force behind Minerva Press, blends art, spirituality, and storytelling to craft deeply personal works. From his beginnings in art and mythology to designing tarot cards and collaborating with the Crocker Art Museum, Brandon’s journey is one of transformation and authenticity

A Turning Point:

Breaking Free from the Bank

In 2017, Brandon faced a life-changing moment. Working in banking, he followed a corporate path he believed was expected of him but felt increasingly disconnected. “It was like a Tower moment,” he explains, referencing the tarot card representing upheaval and change. “I was doing what I thought I was supposed to do, but my heart wasn’t in it.”

Brandon began to push himself to the brink. “I was destroying myself to force an exit from a situation I knew wasn’t right,” he recalls. Eventually, he made the bold decision to leave his corporate job and pursue art full-time. “The magician reversed is the card that resonates most with me from that time. It’s about creation through destruction, which is exactly what I experienced. I had to tear down what wasn’t serving me to rebuild a life aligned with who I truly am.”

Creating a Tarot Deck

Brandon’s fascination with tarot stems from a lifelong interest in mythology and symbolism. This passion led him to create his own deck, blending his artistic style with the archetypes of the cards. Each piece is a deeply personal journey

One standout work, Dance of the Seven Veils (Death), was inspired by a breakup. “It’s about letting go of what no longer serves us,” Brandon explains. The piece explores transformation and rebirth, themes that echo throughout his life and art.

For Brandon, the creative process is as transformative as the cards themselves. “Each card has to resonate with me emotionally and symbolically. If I can’t connect to the archetype, I won’t create it.”

Recognition at the Crocker Art Museum

A career milestone came when Brandon’s work was featured at the Crocker Art Museum’s ArtMix event. His piece Morgan le Fay (The Empress) was chosen as the event’s promotional poster.

“It’s meaningful to have recognition at a gallery level,” Brandon shares. “Supporting your community always comes back to you.” The collaboration allowed him to integrate his tarot work into the local art scene while gaining visibility as an artist.

Art and Spirituality Interwoven

Brandon’s art is deeply tied to his spiritual practice. From meditative cutting of paper to designing digital art on his trusty Wacom tablet, his creative process is a form of sacred work.
